At 11 a.m. Basavaraj was sworn in as CM.. . It was immediately announced that pensions would be increased. It was announced that the old age pension would be increased from one thousand to 12 hundred. He also said that scholarships worth Rs 1,000 crore were being given to the children of farmer families. Basavaraj also increased the pensions of widows and the disabled to Rs 800.
