The Brahmin community in UP has long been a guru who does not care about himself. Many Brahmins have been murdered in the last four years. Eventually the assassination of gangsters like Vikas Dubey also left a caste mark. But in the run-up to the UP Assembly elections in the next 7 months, the Brahmin community is trying to get all the parties to vote.
The Samajwadi Party is also targeting Brahmins in the name of intellectual meetings as the BSP is already organizing Brahmin conventions locally in the respective districts in a bid to come to power soon. But the reason why these parties are focusing on Brahmins so fast is that while Brahmin votes are 12 per cent across the state, in some constituencies they are 20 per cent combined.
While there has been a Brahmin community with the view that CM Yogi Adityanath has been sidelining himself politically since 2017, that anger against Yogi has further increased with the Vikas Dubey Encounter. According to the All India Brahmin Mahasabha, 500 Brahmins were killed during the Yogi rule. The Mahasabha accused the government of doing more than just attacking Brahmins by previous governments.
While in the Congress, the districts formed a T20 team for each district under the name of Parishat by Jeeta Prasad Brahmin. Its purpose is to support the Brahmins who are in trouble within the respective districts. That is why the discussion that he was also included in the BJP was going on loudly at the time.
Of the 53 ministers in the BJP government, only 9 are from the Brahmin community. None of them are close associates of the Yogi. There is an opinion in those circles that the yogi is suppressing himself with this. With this, the opposition is making every effort to turn that category towards itself. The BJP has won 62-70 seats with the Brahmin vote bank alone and CM Yogi is of the view that it has never been ignored.
